An increasing amount of money is being spent on home improvements, it has been revealed. Families who spent more money on home improvements realise the greatest rates of price appreciation. Figures released by Sainsbury's Home Insurance reveal that at present a total of £1,162 is set to be splashed out on alterations

and improvements over the course of this year. The figure marks a rise of 2.97 per cent from the £1,128 that was spent in 2007.
Furnishings & Decorating:
Joanne Mallon, Manager for Sainsbury's Home Insurance, states, "We spend thousands of pounds each year running our homes and have often invested even more money on furnishings and decorating." Jason Orme, Editor of Homebuilding & Renovating magazine, recently stated that people in Britain are increasingly looking to intend home improvements themselves rather than hiring a professional to do such work for them.
